The advisory board assists the DGM managing board in important decisions with respect to strategic developments. The board consists of members from industry, science, politics, research funding and organizations.
“I am very delighted and feel honored to be elected as DGM advisory board speaker“, explains Prof. Zimmermann. “It will be an exciting challenge to actively participate in future developments of the DGM and to support the management board and the office. We will not be short of challenges! One focus will be to strengthen the DGM interests during the identification and application of promising research and development topics vis-à-vis political decision makers. Furthermore it is necessary to tackle the topics internationalization and equal opportunities. We will raise the awareness of the importance of materials know-how for all technological developments.“
With respect to the professional perspective Martina Zimmermann emphasizes the mutual influence of material and production process. Here it is necessary to link, even stronger, research and industry and to implement research results into industrial applications. In particular in the context of additive manufacturing and the digitalization of materials engineering and science, it is of utmost importance to face these challenges.
